lawyer Fees

Law is a profession wherein a lawyer earns by solving public disputes. Every lawyer’s fees structure varies depending upon his/her success ratio. Following are some examples on the basis of which lawyers charge their fees.

 Hourly fees: Also known as flat fee also, is the money that the lawyer charges on hourly basis form the client.  

Billable Hour Structure:  This applies to big law firms that make money by billing the clients on the hourly basis.

Contingency Fee: Also known as the conditional fee is paid to the lawyer or the law firm only if the client wins case.

Lump Sum: A lump sum fee is paid only once the result of the lawsuit has arrived.

Written Fee Agreement: This is an agreement which is signed between the law firm or an attorney, and the client before the procedure of the lawsuit begins. This agreement includes details of the case such as its type & status along with the profile of the lawyer and the amount to be paid. 

Retainer: To secure the services of a consultant, a retainer fee is paid by the client. Unlike conditional fee this amount is fixed that the client agrees to pay in advance.

Pro-Bono: This is a free service that a law firm or a lawyer provides to those who are financially week.

Legal Aid: This is a part of the Pro bono where legal advice & services are provided to the poor people who can’t afford to pay for their lawsuits.
